Dersin Amacı: 
The course aims to investigate English word types, morphemes, lexical chunks, word formation processes, common metaphors, etymologies, and idioms in order to increase students’ understanding of English texts. The course gives insight into how linguistic features behave cross-linguistically, with an emphasis on the language pair Turkish and English (but also in relation to other languages).
Dersin İçeriği: 

Special emphasis on synonyms, antonyms, idiomatic usages, collocations, phrases and expressions. Problems of translation equivalence at lexical level. Stress on words frequently confused between English and Turkish. Effective use of dictionaries.
