Course Objectives: 
To introduce students to the main ideas and works of classical theorists who laid the foundations for the discipline of sociology.
Course Content: 

Ideas of the classical figures in social theory: Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, Max Weber.

Central concepts, themes and theories developed by other prominent social thinkers of the late 19th and early 20th century, such as Georg Simmel, Thorstein Veblen, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and W.E.B. DuBois , who contributed to the development of theoretical sociology by building on the ideas of the founding fathers of the discipline.
