Course Objectives:

The aim of the course is to comprehend the sociology of Turkey; to analyze and discuss the development of sociology in Turkey and its principal characteristics.

Course Content:

his course includes the analysis of the principal traits of Turkish sociology. Firstly, the process of Modernization and its impact on society from the late ottoman period to the first years of Turkish Republic will be reviewed; Turkish modernization, Atatürk reforms made in social areas and their impacts on society will be studied thereafter. Secondly, religion and politics in Turkey, civil society, economic policies in Turkey, and economic growth will also be analyzed.
