Course Objectives: 
The birth and development of Islamic civilisation and its institutions
Course Content: 

The history of the Middle East from the birth of the Prophet Muhammad until the Mongol invasion of Baghdad is described in this course.

The emergence of Islam first as a religion, then as a state and then as a civilisation in the historical process

- Political, social, economic and institutional development of the Prophet and the Four Caliphs period, the emergence of the caliphate institution

- The establishment of Umayyad power after the civil war and its role in political, administrative and urban development, economy and land regime, production and trade Developments and institutionalisations in the field of art and architecture in the Umayyad period

- Establishment of Abbasid power, change in social and political structure, social stratification

- Abbasid period political and administrative institutionalisation and structuring
