This year's Nobel Prize for Physics was shared between Arthur Ashkin of the United States, French Gerard Mourou and Canadian Dana Strickland for his work in the field of laser physics.

The Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences said in a statement that half of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics was given to the US physicist Arthur Ashkin, while the other half was shared between the French physicist Gerard Mourou and the Canadian physicist Dana Strickland.
