On Monday, April 22nd, Zuhal Esra Bilir was the guest of our SOC 409 Colloquium class. We discussed together the article he wrote, "Impossible Intimacy: Salesperson-Customer Relationship Established in Shopping Malls". Women's employment in the service sector, feminist methodology; While talking about the concepts of makeshift, emotional labor, aesthetic labor and intimacy labor, we also touched on class encounters. In addition to the harassment, violence and insults experienced by women working in the shopping mall, we talked about how this job can be analyzed with the concept of intimacy labor beyond the concept of emotional labor.
