Mathematics is an intellectual field built upon consistent, non-contradictory axioms, where deductions are made through logic, forming a domain with absolute reality. In cases where axioms and findings align with physical reality, we witness the application of mathematics to social and other scientific fields, namely applied mathematics. In this regard, mathematics has been the foundation and indispensable tool for much of modern science and technology. Even in professions not explicitly labeled as mathematicians, there are occupations that require a significant level of mathematical knowledge and expertise. Finance theorists, economists, engineers, physicists, some biologists, chemists, pharmacists, and others fall into this category.

The Mathematics undergraduate program aims to provide students with a strong mathematical foundation and prepare those who are willing for doctoral education, focusing on algebra, geometry, and analysis. It is ideal for talented students who love mathematics to direct their elective courses towards mathematics and pursue a doctoral program, thus actively participating in research and educational activities at the university. Job opportunities in this field are more abundant in our country, where there are new and young universities.

Our department encourages and supports students to complete one or two semesters of their education abroad through Erasmus and other Student Exchange Programs. Foreign students also receive education in our department through exchange programs.

Finding a job with an undergraduate degree in mathematics often requires education in some areas of applied mathematics and computer science. Students interested in fields such as statistics, computer science, business, economics, decision-making, management sciences, actuarial science, software, and network engineering can participate in double major or minor programs or take elective courses from relevant departments. Obtaining a bachelor's degree in mathematics from one department and a master's degree from another in a field related to their career goals will provide a very solid and ideal background in the profession.

More than a quarter of our graduates (including those abroad) continue their careers with postgraduate education (in education, finance, mathematics, etc.), while an equal number directly apply their knowledge in the education sector. Additionally, more than a third work in the private sector (information technology, services, metal, textiles, etc.) or abroad.

The competence of the Yeditepe University Mathematics (English) Bachelor's Degree was included in the Turkish Qualifications Framework on July 18, 2023. For a detailed information you can visit our TQF page or scan the QR code given below.

Our undergraduate program has the FEDEK accreditation valid from 2019 to 2024. For more detailed information about this accreditation, you can visit our FEDEK Accreditation page.

Mission and Vision

While continually renewing and improving itself in line with contemporary developments, our vision is to be recognized as one of the esteemed departments both nationally and  globally, maintaining a high standard of education, and conducting research in accordance with international standards.

Our mission encompasses two primary objectives. The first is to be a respectable department in which seminars, conferences and group studies in mathematics and related fields are regularly organized and high quality research is conducted within the international standards. Secondly, our mission is to foster an educational environment guided by academic ethics, enabling our students to cultivate creativity and sharpen their problem-solving skills.

Student Exchange Programs

Our department actively encourages and supports students to spend one or two semesters studying abroad, whether through the Erasmus program or other Student Exchange Programs. Additionally, our department hosts  students who come from abroad to pursue their education through these exchange programs. Bologna Process

The Bologna Process, designed to enhance the organization and quality of the education system, ensures that specific standards are implemented among higher education institutions, thereby addressing disparities in education. The aim of this reform program is to foster interaction and mutual recognition among higher education institutions in Europe. Additionally, the established standards contribute to transparency, scientific integrity, mobility of academic staff, and active student participation in education.

Yeditepe University applies the Bologna Process competencies and standards considered in its undergraduate programs to the Mathematics Department education as well. The Bologna processes in our department is coordinated by  Assist. Prof. Barış EFE.
