Dr. Gabriela Tucan’s talk will first provide an overview of cognitive narratology’s origins in the field of Cognitive Linguistics, and its subsequent development as an interdisciplinary field. This will be followed by a discussion of the role of emotion terms in narrative comprehension, and the roles of cognitive blending and conceptual metaphors in the construction of meaning in narratives. Finally, Dr. Tucan will address the topics of embodiment/ embodied cognition, simulation, and narrative gaps.
